SRL USES MANY WAYS TO PROVIDE THEOLOGICAL EDUCATION
CULTIVATING REFORMED CHURCH PLANTING
Iglesia Mt. Zion in Cochabamba, Bolivia, an SRL location, has planted over ten Reformed churches. It is part of an ambitious initiative to plant one church in each town in Bolivia. The church leaders follow the example of the Antioquia Project that aims to plant a Reformed church in each of the 125 towns in the state of Antioquia, Colombia.
FROM PROSPERITY GOSPEL TO PRESBYTERIAN PASTOR
Presbyterian Pastor César Betancour of Iglesia Betania in Cali, Colombia, answers the question regarding the biggest threat to the Church in Latin America: It is the prosperity gospel! It’s a false gospel that appeals to our sinful desires and tells us what we want to hear. Pastor Betancour was a former leader of the prosperity gospel movement in Colombia. He stated that through SRL and other Reformed pastors, he learned the true Doctrine of Grace and Salvation. Now he evangelizes “prosperity pastors” by inviting them to use SRL’s resources and embrace the True Gospel. Pastor Betancour rejoices in seeing ten Reformed churches planted in the Cali area and believes that more will emerge—as pastors are equipped to discern and correct their doctrinal errors.
