OUR HISTORY

Seminario Reformado Latinoamericano (SRL Seminary) was founded by Dr. Noé Acosta, a candidate for the Roman Catholic priesthood, in 1998 in the state of Pennsylvania. Today, SRL is headquartered, and has its main campus, in the state of Florida.

In 1998, Dr. James Montgomery Boice of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, PA, sent Dr. Acosta to Colombia to participate in a theological debate with bishops and priests. Upon his return, he denounced the lack of education for pastors. There were no Reformed seminaries. Dr. Boice exclaimed, "Many are not heretics, just ignorant." With his motivation, Dr. Acosta, with the help of Pastor Richard Tyson, founded Gospel to Colombia, now known as Seminario Reformado Latinoamericano (SRL), as the first Reformed seminary of its kind.

The seminary started with just twelve seminarians in Bogotá, Colombia. Today, the SRL has more than 1,000 students in more than 14 sites across Latin America and the US. It has trained more than 2,000 pastors in the last 21 years.
