Dear SRL Family,
Warm greetings from Medellín, Colombia. Noé is teaching three intensive graduate courses. We are also preparing for the 12th Annual Reformation Convention in October! The students are eager to learn and so very polite. Any time a professor enters the classroom, everyone stands up. Dr. Bryan Wintersteen, Global Missions Pastor at Briarwood Presbyterian Church, in Birmingham, Alabama, encouraged students with outstanding lectures and also brought greetings from Dr. Harry Reeder, Briarwood’s Senior Pastor and one of the expositors at the SRL Reformation Convention this year.
It came to our attention that inflation is causing a huge increase in the cost of meat, chicken, and other protein foods, creating stress on the SRL budget, which has forced some rationing. We directed that the seminarians should be fed properly and trust God to provide extra contributions to meet that need. Will you help us with this special project?
On entering the seminary, we were joyfully surprised by the beautiful new SRL library. We are grateful to Mr. Michael Delarm, former BOT chairman, and his wife, Kristine, who initiated this project. Our gratitude also goes to special donors, and book companies and bookstores, like CLC and Teología Para Vivir, who participated in this task.
While we were in the building, SRL received a gift of new books worth $10,000.00, donated by Publicaciones Faro De Gracia. Beyond this blessing, Ligonier Ministries will be sending copies of each of their books already printed in Spanish. This library is now one of the largest Reformed libraries in Colombia, serving not only SRL, but pastors and other students of theology who would like to borrow books even by mail. It was a delight to participate in the inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony. Many pastors from Medellín were present to celebrate alongside us. Through the sweet insistence of donors, it was named Acosta’s Library, but we must say: Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.
