A testimony from Dr. James Bearss (D.Min.), an SRL visiting professor:
This April 2023 trip to Medellin marked my tenth anniversary of teaching for SRL in Colombia. When I first became an SRL visiting professor, classes were taught on the campus that was up on the mountain in Saint Elena. The classroom was an old chicken coop with a tin roof. Every time it rained, we had to wait until the storm passed since the noise of the rain on the roof was deafening! My how times have changed! Now the classes meet in the newly renovated classroom at the main campus in downtown Medellin. This building in the historic center of Medellin provides an excellent location for the school and accommodates the students very well.
The course I taught was New Testament Introduction: The Story of How God Delivered the Bible to Man. We dealt with Revelation, Inspiration, Canonicity, Translations, and Textual Criticism. The students were very attentive, and they asked excellent questions after each teaching session. I was quite impressed with the quality of the students in this year’s class. This is a great testament to the staff at SRL in finding good students in which to invest the teaching of the Word of God. It was a wonderful experience, and my wife, Anna, and I were delighted to be a part of it.
