Venezuela is Blessed with a Growing Number of Reformed Churches

This September, 110 students attended classes taught by Dr. Mercado at SRL in Venezuela, and about 250 people attended the Theological Convention, Celebrating God’s Glory. More people had registered, but could not attend for lack of transportation and food, as they were traveling as far as 12 hours away. Many of the people who attended walked. They did not have sufficient food or a proper place to sleep, but they eagerly participated and enjoyed a week of teaching and the convention at the end of the week.

AT THE CENTER, DR. ALEXANDER MERCADO, SRL COLOMBIAN PROFESSOR, WITH PASTORS WHO HAVE BECOME THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF SRL AND OF THE REFORMATION IN VENEZUELA. 2 Tim. 2:2

Dr. Mercado wrote: The reformed faith in Venezuela goes beyond the meeting days and conference times. Their commitment to the Kingdom is evident by their love for God and for each other under tremendous suffering. The pastors’ concern for the souls of each one of the humble and growing new congregations is genuine. The marks of a biblical church are evident. They are committed to expository preaching and the purity of the Word of God. They properly administer the sacraments and are compassionate, but faithful in the application of church discipline. Their care for each other—sharing their meager food and most basic necessities— is a model of Christian love.

I thank God for sending Dr. Benítez, Bill Greendyk and me, several years ago, to teach at the First SRL Reformed Convention in Venezuela and open SRL sites there. Dear brethren, please stand with us as a monthly Ministry Partner. SRL is a vital tool to equip gospel servants in 15 branches in several nations.

Sincerely in Christ,

Dr. Noé S. Acosta, SRL President
