Teleology is the doctrine of final causes. It is a branch of causality that explains the reason for, and purpose of, existence (Raison D’étre). The only reason for Christians to exist on this planet is to glorify God as we obey the Great Commission—the presentation of the gospel—to our families, towns, Jerusalem, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. This is precisely what SRL is doing—with your help. We can't do this after we die.

SRL is turning the Hispanic world upside-down with the Gospel. Thousands are listening to the recent “Sufficiency of Christ” Conference on the Internet. For the past two months, 24 professors have traveled to teach in-person modules to hundreds of seminarians. Many of these teachers preached at new Reformed churches. Additionally, theological conferences are taking place this month in Mexico, Chile, and Venezuela. Next year, on March 14-15, 2025, SRL will hold the 1st European conference in Barcelona, Spain. It is difficult to go to so many places in the world, but by looking at Numbers 9:15-23 we know that we are commanded by The Lord to go wherever the cloud takes us. It is gloriously inconvenient, but The Lord has the right to do with us as He pleases. Here you and we are! Send us, oh Lord!

We thank God for allowing all of us to see multitudes coming to Christ through SRL’s mission. The Gospel is The Lord Jesus Christ and His work.  For this reason, we cry out with Paul:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes… (Rom. 1:16a ESV) So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven... (Matt. 10:32a ESV)

DR. DEL BELCHER was denied entrance to the airplane because, at that time, only family visitors were allowed to visit this particular country. An agent, without asking, marked the immigration document as a family visitor. Dr. Belcher explained that he was not visiting family. The agent asked, “Who are you visiting?” to which he responded, “A church.” The agent replied, “They are family.” With this, Dr. Belcher realized that, indeed, they are family—by the same blood of Christ and children of the same Heavenly Father!

After about 30 hours of travel, he arrived at his destination. Part of the module was conducted using candles and a generator donated to the SRL building.

From Guadalajara, Mexico, DR. JOHN BURKE wrote:  About 50 people attended my modules. It rained so hard Tuesday night during class that the lights went out. The streets were dark, and they had become rivers of flowing water. Our car ended up floating with the water up to the seats. A robber came by with a gun and stole the possessions from the person stuck in a car just ahead of us. We escaped before the bandit came to us.

The next night, Wednesday, there was no light or speaker system in the church, so we started the class by candlelight. I was sad when the lights came on later… it was so pretty and nostalgic having the class by candlelight! On Saturday afternoon, I went with the group from the church to evangelize in a local park. We were told that no one had ever explained the gospel to them before!  I was so happy we were there to do that!  I wish we had had a Bible to leave with them.  On Saturday evening, I continued my teaching in the Seminary. Come Sunday morning, I taught Sunday school and preached. God helped me communicate clearly and passionately. I always hope and pray that the audience will see Jesus, fall more in love with Him, learn at His feet, hear Him speaking, and follow Him more closely. Afterward, I was pretty tired and drained but happy and grateful. (Edited.)

PASTOR ANGEL GÓMEZ wrote: After arriving yesterday from Medellín, our flight to Philadelphia was canceled due to the hurricane. Other dear brothers from Calvary Presbyterian Church of Willow Grove who accompanied me to Medellín shared the driving. I taught New Testament Introduction to eager students during the day, and the evenings were filled with fellowship and coffee outings. On Sunday, we arrived at the church about 30 minutes before Sunday School began. About 90% of the church was already there praying.

Seminarians and missionaries from Calvary were eager to evangelize and invite people to church. The gospel fever was impressive. A PCA Elder and an MTW missionary visited the SRL Building.

Venezuela has an impressive report. In 2015, a busload of Venezuelans attended the SRL Latin American Convention in Cartagena, Colombia. They were so highly motivated that they requested, in English, to have a similar conference in Caracas. At that time, Venezuela was dangerous, so Dr. Acosta responded in English with, "We'll see." The Venezuelan brothers understood "Sí" and without further consultation, they organized a conference. Pastors from all regions of Venezuela came to Caracas. Over five hundred people attended.  With much trepidation, Dr. Acosta, Bill Greendyk, and Dr. Julio Benítez attended as speakers. Care and security were provided, including bulletproof transportation. The conference was a tremendous success! This event is now known as “The Dawn of the Reformation in Venezuela.”

Pastor Joscar Chirinos, SRL Venezuela site coordinator, wrote: Venezuela is experiencing the worst crisis in all its history. But it pleased God to give us a strong faith in Jesus. Today there are Reformed congregations in each one of the largest cities and other places. There are about 29 established churches or churches in the process of reformation. It is a glorious reality because the historical, confessional Reformed faith, practically, did not exist. (Edited.) Under the leadership of Pastor Chirinos, SRL has flourished and conferences have been held in some of the main cities. One is upcoming on October 26, 2024, called Para Su Gloria. Pastor Chirinos and his team of missionaries have literally traveled throughout Venezuela, sharing the glorious Doctrines of Grace with a plethora of pastors. Would you be able to send a donation today?
