2021 May Newsletter

By God’s mercy, SRL Seminary is fulfilling its main objective of bringing the Reformation to Latin America. On April 5th, we were notified that the SRL YouTube Channel had received 2,000,000 views of the lectures, courses and conferences. Reformed churches, many of which are planted by SRL graduates, continue to proliferate. Hundreds of students and individuals from every country in Latin America are sending messages of gratitude and recognition of the high and practical education. These messages demonstrate how God is using SRL to transform His Church in that continent. As a result of the high interest in Latin America, this year’s annual SRL Latin American Reformed Theological Convention has become a “mega convention.” It will take place from August 23rd to 27th (the dates were rescheduled), from 7pm to 10pm EST. Broadcasting will be on two channels: one will be in English and the other will be dubbed into Spanish. The theme is The Person and Ministry of The Holy Spirit. God has allowed many theologians to participate, including: Dr. Thomas Ascol, Pastor David Barceló, Dr. Joel Beeke, Dr. Julio Benítez, Dr. Luis Contreras, Dr. David Garner, Dr. Steven Lawson, Dr. Jared Longshore, Dr. John MacArthur, Dr. Conrad Mbewe, Pastor Sugel Michelén, Dr. Burk Parsons, Pastor Pablo Prieto, Dr. Sam Waldron, and representatives from Ligonier Ministries.

SRL has also taken a leadership role to awaken the evangelical church to speak up and do something about the murder of children. In Latin America, 6.5 million children were aborted during the last year. They were killed in what is supposed to be the safest place—the womb of their mothers. With guidance from SRL, an independent foundation, known as Fundación Adonai Vida y Dignidad (FAVD), was created to help expectant mothers and prevent abortions. FAVD currently operates a pregnancy center in Medellín and is expected to expand throughout Latin America (www.foundationavd.org). Experts like Andrea Krazeise, Director of Sanford Pregnancy Center, Christi Hymel, and Pastor Bill Heard gave a motivational Zoom training workshop. It was attended by nearly 2,000 Latin Americans. Many pastors who participated are contacting FAVD to learn how to establish centers in their own countries.
Dr. Noé S. Acosta is teaching a series of six lectures from St. Andrew’s Chapel about how Protestants should present the gospel to Roman Catholics with grace, love, and respect. These lectures take place on Tuesdays from 6pm to 8pm EST. Below are the Zoom and YouTube links.

Please accept our profound gratitude for helping SRL to pay down the mortgage of the seminary building in Medellín. The current balance is only $150,000. We pray that the Lord will move the heart of a dear Christian brother or sister who is able to help pay off this mortgage.
Sincerely in Christ, Rebecca Cook SRL Administrative Assistant
